hello i am behind with the blogs as usual!! so a brief update on our adventures... as i said previously we headed back to thailand and it was really nice to be back somewhere we had been before always moving on from people places and experiences is sad in a way because you always want to stay longer! so we found our friend Nee in bangkok and had a catch up on the 5 months since we'd left thailand! We had only two weeks so headed straight off to Kanchanaburi, of 'Bridge over the river Kwai' fame. Although a tourist hot spot, we were plesantly suprised as it still retained a village charm to it and we found a really sweet wooden shack over the water with a teeny balcony for 3 quid, wow its so much cheaper than malaysia! We managed to be there for the kanchanaburi festival so there were HUGE markets and a sound and light show which was basically crazy amounts of fireworks, beams of coloured lights and music and the story of the prisoners of war building the death railway through to Burma. Very atmospheric and entertaining! We spent the afternoons relaxing reading and sleepingon our balcony! We went to two different museums, one filled with the most bizzare paintings and proverbs, a temple consisting of plates and cups and paper mache models which were anatomically incorrect and very disturbing! the other museum actually beared relevance to the historical site of the river kwai and more specifically the bridge and the history of the prisoners who built it in horrific conditions. We also hired bikes and trundled around the town getting lost and enjoying the countryside. On our last day we visited Erawan Falls,a beautiful waterfall consisiting of aqua blue pools and seven large falls, we swam in some but were scared of the big fish that kept biting our skin off (although i cant complain, exfoliation treatments normally cost a fortune!) i know thats pathetic coming from two divers but its different when you have a mask on! We got back to bangkok and rushed off to Chiang Mai for our connection to Mae Moh, the village where we previously taught english 5 months ago! i shall upload photos and update the blog soon i promise! that will be our last blog and photos before we come home in just over a week!!!!! lots of love to you all and we cant wait to see you all XXXXXXXXXXXXX
