DAY 10:
After an interesting nights sleep... People in this village arent very tall... I didnt really fit In the bed and speny the night knocking my ankles. Enjoyed a breakfast of bread, sour cream, sheep cheese, home made jams and cucumbers. Also they make a lovely mint and spice tea for breakfast often which is nice. Said goodbye to our host family and set off in the bus for bravos.... About a 2 hour ride away.
Arrived at the hotel just around the corner from the town square in the old walled city of Bravos. There was a festival in the square which had traditional Romanian dancing, music and food.
The weather was a beautiful sunny day so took the cable car up to the top of mt Tampa to look at the view from the giant Bravos sign. Great views over the city and then walked the hour down the hill enjoying the sunshine and keeping an eye out for the local bear population.
Spent the rest of the afternoon looking around the city. Highlights including shopping at the gypsies market... Hope the jewelry I brought wasn't stolen. Visited the city park and was invited to play backgammon with the local retires out enjoying the sun... Had to refuse as I don't know the game (and their English wasn't good enough to explain the rules to me),
walked around the bank that has serval bullet holes in the walls due to street fighting that took place during the 1989 revolution,
looked in the ethnographical museum at the history of weaving and clothing of Romania,
went shopping the pedestrian arcades and
Finally enjoyed the dancing in the town square... The dancer were beautiful costumes with many bright colours.
Evening meal with the intrepid group at a local restaurant.
