Unfortunately there was no sunbathing for us today as we woke up to it being very overcast I guess we cant complain as it is February but we are desperate for the sun! We were off out today to see the Red Rock Canyon, which is just a short drive away from where we are and Olof hadnt been on his last trip over here. The sat nav failed us today it couldnt work out where we wanted to go so we back to the old fashioned way using the signposts and maps (albeit a map on the iPad!) to get there.
During the fifteen minute drive out there the temperature dropped around ten degrees, the Red Rocks are in a national park where there is a scenic thirteen mile drive. We stopped in two places near the beginning where the sun was still out, we had fun walking down the trails and exploring the rocks. It's like one giant playground and it's really interesting to see where the two types of rocks have collided, the bottom is a brilliant red and the top a dull brown. We mooched around, jumping up and down the rocks before carrying on the drive. Back in the car the snow started, yes snow, it is following us! The rest of the viewpoints were not so great with the weather we could barely see the mountain in front of us but we were glad we'd had gone for the fun of the first part. We were imagining to have this as your local countryside to pick up your bike, go climbing or just go for a run!
