We had another fun day today, I indulged my inner geek by stalking out the locations from the movie Pretty Woman! First we were picking up the car from LAX, for once it went really smoothly and Olof was negotiating the LA traffic back towards Beverly Hills.
We found parking one street away from Rodeo Drive, perfect! Wilshire Boulevard runs across Rodeo Drive with the Beverly Wilshire hotel so that was our first stop and I was directing Olof to take pictures of the green and white canopies! The sign for the hotel is actually right in the entrance, a little embarrassed Olof asked the concierge if I could get a photo with it! We could and we could go inside! Complete geeks we felt! We went in and did a lap around "that" table in the middle of the reception with the chandelier and left but it was kind of cool, a lot smaller than it appeared! I should have rode up in the famous lift "first time in an elevator!" We then walked up Rodeo Drive, window shopping of course and laughing at all the pretend rich and famous! I think Olofs favourite shop had the Bugatti! From there we walked up a bit further for the cheesy photo with the Beverly Hills sign! Give us a win on the EuroMillions (five wins!) and maybe we could move there but for now our sat nav was set for Vegas baby!
LA traffic is mad, we might as well have been sat on the M25 except with more undertaking and swerving in and out, it took us around two hours to get out of the city! We just managed a quick pit stop for some Mexican food on the way. With over half way to go it was dark but it actually made for quite an experience coming into Las Vegas. We could see the lights from the city shining from beyond the horizon around 30 miles out. Instead of going straight to the hotel we wanted to drive down the strip first, Olof has been before so he was showing me all the sights. Really is an amazing place, it feels like you're in a fantasy world! Up and down the strip we went before heading to the hotel. Ten o'clock and we've checked in to our apartment! It's massive, we have an open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. Separate laundry room and a spare bedroom with it's own bathroom and walk in wardrobe. Then is our master bedroom, huge bathroom, walk in wardrobe, balcony and plasma tv on the wall. Overkill maybe but it was in budget and hey it's Vegas!
