This is the second time of writing for this day, I had just finished up when the internet crashed and I lost everything, I was not a happy bunny!
So it was time to leave Whistler, we just had to get up and go as we sad not to be staying longer and spending some more time snowboarding! Actually it was mad on the way out, the amount of traffic coming into Whistler it was like a mini M25. We heard later on the news there was not a single hotel room free in the village this weekend. They had perfect weather, actually we did comment there had been a good amount of snow when we got to the car this morning, around another 30cm.
On the way we took a turning off the highway to go and look at the Olympic Park where the ski jumping and cross country took place, not an awful lot to see there but we couldnt pass by without saying we had been. Now we were on the road leaving the snow behind for the last time and the in car themometre crept up to plus six degrees!
The road down to Vancouver is really scenic the Sea to Sky Highway so there was plenty to keep us occupied on the way and a couple of cool places to stop and enjoy the view. Actually the road was similar to the cat walks at Johnstone Canyon, just for cars not people. Before we knew it we were coming into the city and our first thoughts were can we turn around again, there was too many cars and too many people! We had already planned to stop at Capilano Suspension Bridge, as soon as we got there we were a little hesistant but as it was somewhere we had looked up at home and we had time to kill before we could check in to our hotel we thought we might as well take a look. Well $60 and half hour later we were out again, it was so commercial and overly touristy! The bridge itself was good but not worth the money especially as what we have already seen over the last couple of weeks! The rest of the place was aimed at kids, the walks through the forest were on wooden boardwalks and there were signs like "extreme nature ahead!" It gave us something to laugh and moan about though and you cant win them all!
We decided to see if we could check in to our hotel early as we needed to drop the car back as well, luckily we could. We are in a really great position this time right by English Bay and we even have a sea view from our room! What was a quick task to drop the car back ended up taking a couple of hours, we arrived at Hertz to realise I had left one set of keys in my handbag so it was back to the hotel to pick them up! Snore!
We're going to use this time in Vancouver to relax, I think we're both travelled out after movin around so much in the last weeks and neither of us are big city people as nice as the place is!
