Round The World Trip 2006
G'day Folks...
Since Nelsons Bay, we've been close to the coast, cruising the Pacific Highway [1] and throwing ourselves into the big blue pond regularly.
We've been steadily making our way to Brisbane, taking lots of time out due to us being ahead of schedule (I know, I can't believe it either!)
First stop was RiverLodge campsite just north of Port Maquarie and south of Kempsey. It was a beautiful location where we managed to park our car right by the river as the sun lowered for the night. Managed to get our first full-on fire going that night too. Other than that, we just took it easy.
Then last night I randomly picked Yamba off the map, 10km off the main highway and it looked like one big holiday park; a little too commercial for our liking, so we settled in the camp kitchen to watch Australian Idol with our Mega sized Victoria Bitters.
After a much needed laundry visit, we left the campsite gone 10am and headed on. It may not be amazing to you, but we managed to find a number of petrol stations selling Unleaded at the cheapest we've ever seen; 99.99 p/litre; the equivalent of 0.37pence p/litre in rip-off-UK. It helps a hell of a lot when you have a gas-guzzling 12 year old 4.0i litre battered Stationwagon emptying out your pockets...so far I think I'm well over budget!?!
We've stopped in a part of the East called Surfers Paradise, a decision brought on after a quick dunk in the sea at Byron Bay.
Currently checked in to the "Sleeping Inn". When Jonno bothers to get up, we'll be hitting the town to see what's going-down. And yes, tomoz will be the day we finally hit the waves with a board of some description... But whether or not my board skills impress, there's no doubt my Super Groovy O'Neill Boardies will turn some heads out there...Watch this space!
