Hi Everyone
Well we clocked up a few miles travelling around today having a look at the southern part of Minnesota and Wisconsen.
We drove down through some lovely little country towns with lots of fields that have been ploughed and the land is all ready for planting but it looked really funny because so much of it was covered in snow, We even saw a dairy farm with hundreds of freisian cows walking out of the barn and through the snow.... really weird. As we got further south the snow disappeared though. We followed the Mississippi River and stopped at Lake Peppin which is a lake on the Mississippi River and they say it is the birthplace of water skiing!!!!! Noel would have loved to have a ski on the lake but thought he might need an ice breaker and 50 wet suits on first. Not a boat in sight (except in the dry docks at the marina) funny that! We ended up in a little town called Wabasha where we went to the American Eagle Centre. Here they take in injuried American Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles which have been looked after medically but can't be released back into the wild because of their injuries. We sat in on an educational program (it felt like being back on tour) to learn more about the eagles which was really interesting and we got to see them up close and personal which was amazing. They are really big birds and I wouldn't want to have one grab hold of me with their talens because they would do a lot of damage. After a little walk around the town (with our jackets and gloves on) we drove over the Mississippi and into Wisconsen and drove back up north along the other side of the Mississippi River through their farming fields and some wet land areas where there were plentry of hunters in their boats heading up into the creeks. It was a really lovely drive and nice to see areas that we haven't seen before. We can now say we've been to Wisconsen too!!! When we got back to Minneapolis we went to Khan's Mongolian BBQ Restaurant which Noel has been to before and raves about and it was so nice although now I just feel like curling up and going to sleep because I am still so full.
I've also attached some photos for Liz of part of a cake display at a local store - they are amazing! They won a lot of awards in a local competition with them and now have them on display. Wehave lots more photos also as these are only a couple of the ones on display.
Tomorrow we are going to go into downtown Minneapolis and have a look around and then on Sunday we are going for a drive up north to look around up there which we are really looking forward to also.
Well I am going to head off to bed now as I am so tired after today's adventure and I didn't even drive.............. Just as well Noel enjoys driving!
We hope that everyone is well and we send our love to all. Thanks for the messages - they are great and we look forward to receiving many more over the coming weeks.
Until next time, Take Care. Lots of love to everyone
