After the bunker, we made our way through Nuovo Mesto (New Town) to the Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius. Although a very plain church, it is revered in the minds of the Czechs because of its historical significance.. In 1942, after the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, the Butcher of Prague, the assassins and their accomplices made the church, the crypt specifically, the location of their last stand, holding out against the Germans until running out of bullet...

Went to the small park beneath the massive Prague TV Tower to kick around my mini soccer ball in the morning. Although we went before the day got too sunny.. Still got a good sweat on. After, we headed to a local nuclear fallout bunker which was surprisingly close to our place.. The place now serves as a museum and occasional private party venue. Very neat experience, to imagine living in the type of world where a nuclear threat was very real. Also got to play ...

Picked up Nina at the airport last night... Very happy to see her and excited for the week ahead! Since she was tired from the long travel day, basically we went back to the hostel and crashed. This morning, we all had breakfast before setting out for a walk in (rainy) Prague. Perused a mall and an outdoor market, where we bought some grilled chicken! Tasty! From there, we went to the Old Town Square, saw the Church of Our Lady of Tyn and the astronomical clock...

Arrived in Prague by night train this morning. Checked into our hostel, which is a bit rough around the edges, but overall is pretty sweet. Basically did a long walk around town, observing the city, getting a feel for it. Like Budapest, a great mix of new and old... Very impressed with all of eastern Europe. Grabbing a bite to eat with some Pilsen (the real deal, not that Saskatchewan crap).

Just a quick commentary on Eurocup, which is co hosted by Poland and the Ukraine at the moment. So many jerseys in the streets, especially the red and white of the Polish football team. Every bar or pub you pass has the game on, everyone watches at least one of the games each night... Even though we're just in the round robin (and will be for another ten days or so), the games are life or death. It is awesome to see the entire continent's passion for the same gam...
