Time to say goodbye Sweden. Kerstin and I had a nice dinner last night - it was such a struggle to find somewhere to eat. We weren't asking much just somethng that was not junk food, asian, italian, mexican, burgers, etc. After walking town flat for over an hour we settled for the in-house dining at a hotel not far from where we were staying and had a very pleasant meal.
We did some shopping and visited the Hotorget - Hay Market - most wonderful array of berries and mushrooms in season - just wished I could have bought some to prepare at home!
Up early to catch the airport train to Arlanda airport on Friday and flight to Budapest.
Closing thoughts on Sweden - Stockholm:
- everyone smokes
- lots of very tall people
- very hard to find a decent restaurant
- the climate is not for me - I just can't do those temperatures and I am desperate for some sun.
- I am pleased however that I was able to see Stockholm although I did not manage to do it justice as I was not well and the weather was horribly cold - hardly getting above 16 or 17 degrees top and mostly raining and/or cloudy so August is not the time to visit Sweden.
