So, it has been a while since we wrote for the last time. The photos are even more late - we know. But it is all to come, the internet is just so very slow so we have to find time to actually get to a good internet café with fast connection and have time and patience to complete it all. Anyhow, something by words... From Porto Alegre we went to Iguazu Falls, in the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G national park with huge waterfalls inside the jungle. First we took a sight seen on the brasilian site, then went to sleep to Argentina and finally also checked out the Argentinian site the next day... Well, we saw a monkey, a guinea pig and other fancy animals, tried our best to pose near by the huge waterfalls and went rafting under them. But not even a thousand words would be enough to fill you up what it was - you have to see the pictures, and even them dont make justice do these great phenomenos of nature. So you all there far away - go go go - see it out yourselves! It is worth every penny... trust us.
A moment silence to that, but the journey still had to go on, so we got our asses to a big brasilian bus, which took us to the mysterious Paraguay. The hugely corrupted, poor and cheap country in the middle of South America, which no backpackers ever visit (they should though, Paraguay is great). Crossed the border, the difference between Paraguay and Brazil was immediately noticeble. Paraguay is so poor, very dirty, trashing out seems to be a national hobby, the streets are filled with bumps (which make the travel even more exciting), people try to sell staff in the bus, or through the windows, the buildings are not mantained... well, the signs of the lack of political responsability could not be much more obvious but yet, Paraguay ended up stealing our hearts. In Asuncion, where Andrea, a girl who also spent a year 2003-2004 in Italy was hosting us, we learned so much about everything and had tons and tons fun that is even hard to put that in words. We basically hanged around with AFS Asuncion, went out every night, talked about everything, learned some spanish and even guarani, and tons about Paraguay and it´s history and people. We tasted tereré, the traditional tee-kind-of-drink, but served cold during summer season, and got so hooked we even bought a cup and thermos of our own to carry around. Everybody who knows maté should catch up the idea when we say that is exactly the same, but with cold water and more fashionable thermo. ;) That is not all, also chipas, again different kind of fruits, and well, veggies and typical rice-cheese-thingie were marvellous. Our hosts were no less then the best ones ever, as well Andrea as all her family and friends. Even maid (hate using this word though!) was extremely nice. Well.. it is not like we have met many people who were not nice, all South America is quiet fabulous to be honest.... =) Anyhow, we finally danced salsa like two maniacs, went to karaoke, witness again crazy driving with no seatbelts (are they illegal on the backseats or what is it with this continent?) and sweared to come back for revolution. We made great friends, and... there is really not much more to say! Live it up Asuncion, it really should be so much higher rated... To continue the travel, sadly enough, we had to leave. That is... travelling more is not sad, not being able to stay more in Asuncion is. Anyhow, this time the road took us to Encarnacion, to see Vicky, a former AFS student who spend a year 2002-2003 in frazione Mosche di Chivasso. Yep. So here we are, right at the argentinian border. Vicky and her family are fabulous, she has turned out to be so nice that is hard to describe, she has terribly cute two dogs, the nicest parents ever and a marvellous granma, which we already want to put in the luggage and carry home with us. Yesterday we went to the market and then to dine with her, her boyfriend and another friend in Posadas, Argentina, and today we went to Trinidad to ruins and had a barbeque. Everything is so good as it can be, but tomorrow we will spend our last guaranis and leave for Buenos Aires.... On Monday we should fly to Santiago in Cile, and then the rest of the travel is to figure out later on.... the time is flying, but in the same time so much is happening that is almost crazy... but yet, we still got some minutes of the day to miss home. So kisses and hugs, to everyeverybody, once again ;)
