Hi all!
Here we are for the third day in Tokyo. We didn't get to see much of Osaka as we stayed in Shin-Osaka (north from Osaka station) and we were a bit sleepy after the nine hour flight and an hour spent in the passport check...
On Sunday we went to Shinjuku to see the night life (as well as for a bite to eat) as now we're staying in Ueno or Akihabara, depending on which map you read... Yesterday we went to Akihabara's electronic city to get a camera for Tomi. I also managed to find a memory card for my camera and some random cute stuff that I simply had to get.
Last night we went back to Shinjuku for a few drinks at the bar on top of Park Hyatt (where some scenes from the movie Lost in Translation were shot at). As it had an entrance fee of 2000 yen per customer, our total was a little over 17000 yen... which is about 100 euros... ouch. But the view was great! I'll try to get some pictures here but now I only have about 30 minutes total time (of which I've already used about half) and so I need to find a more quiet place.
Today we started early and went to Tsukiji Fish Market to see some fishy action... you could smell it from even a great distance so it wasn't very difficult to find. Then we walked through Ginza to the Imperial Palace Plaza and saw the Nihonbashi bridge and the Palace. They were even more restricted to the public as there was a convey for some important person, whom we believe to be from Kuwait.
Now we're near Tokyo station headed to a major bonsai mekka... at least according to Tomi (this must be the culmination of his trip). Tomorrow we'll head for Ghibli museum and Miika's training palace... yes, I mean palace... On Thursday we'll head down to Shimoda and I hope I'll find a computer before that or from there.
Note to Thomas... can't really explain the different words here as they are areas or places within or near Tokyo. Except for Shimoda, which is in Izu Peninsula.
