Still here and still having fun! When we got dropped off by the bus two weeks ago the bus stop was in a town called Littleton. At that moment there're wasn't any time but then and there we decided that we definitely wanted to take another look. So off we went…. It turns out that a lady lived here, Pollyanna, that was so optimistic and always smiled they decided to give her a statue. Everywhere you go you see her smiling. So if you're ever in a foul mood just hop on the bus and visit Littleton NH you'll leave smiling. If that doesn't work the candy store might do the trick. Take a look at the pictures we took. There's just no end to the selection of candy you can choose from. I admit….. I bought a bag:-)
We sat down for a coffee and a chai latte and met a few people who told us that there's a great hiking area close by. It's called the Franconia Notch, actually it's a state park. It's just amazing. In the winter there's a lot of skiing going on and in the summer mostly hiking and rock climbing. A part of the Appalachian trail actually runs through this park. We did the Flume Gorge trail. We took some great pictures and had a good hike. Some steep trails but excellent views.
A few miles down the road they are mining granite. A lot of factories over here are open to the public and have a tour that gives you the opportunity to take a look at what they do, how they do it and how it all started for them. We decided to take a look. On this particular day they were doing only tours for middle school children. They didn't want to put us out so we got to go on the kids tour, yeahhhhh. It's great to see how they operate a quarry like that so if you ever get the chance….
At the end of the day we ended up in a place called Burlington. We were told they had flying monkeys…. I just had to see that for myself. On top of their old railway station there are statues of flying monkeys. Never saw that before , looks a bit creepy but very creative. In the same town we stumbled upon the world's tallest filing cabinet. I mean….. you're at home and thinking, all those filing cabinets? What should I do with them? No problem, I'll just put them on top of each other. Problem solved.
Although Loch Ness with its monster is a thing of Scotland they seem to have their own version in Burlington. Looked more friendly to my taste but nevertheless they have their own lake monster. That's it for now:-)
