Hi Sorry I cant stay long tonight on the computer as it is 10 to 11 pm and we are almost finisthed packing ready for our tramping in this region. We have decided to do the Torres Del Paine circuit that will take us up to 10 days. We are doing the back track behind the Massif first as we have plenty of food for 5 days. This will bring us to the famous W track, another 5 days but more readily serviced by refugios where we can buy food if we run short. We have paired it down to one change of clothes so should be interesting. The weather contditions are constantly changing so we are prepared for anything.
The 4 day boat trip was better than I expected and time passed easily. There were information sessions, movies, bar and three days of beautiful fiords with snowy backdrops. We pulled up right in front of the Pio X1 Glacier and at 5 km across it was spectacular. The lighting was a flurescent tourquiese to pale blue and icebergs bobbed in the sea for quite a distance. We also stopped at Puerto Eden that is a small town of 200 people in what must be the very middle of nowhere. Windy cold place. Here we are very close to Antarctica and have been forewarned about the howling winds strong enough to blow over man and pack!
We hope to finish the walk and have a cuple of days spare to go to Argentina. Toby is keen to get another country stamped in his passport and the men are tempted by the legendary steaks. Will update in about 10 days when back to civilisation
