We have had the most fantastic weather on our Torres Del Paine hiking experience and that has made it all the more pleasureable. I am a fair weather outdoors person and we had heard horror stories of the wind in this region so to be fortunate enough to receive clear skies and almost no wind for 9 days was perfect. We had cool glacier fed mountain streams to drink from, wash ourselves and our clothes in so all in all felt very civilised. The walking was moderate to hard and my calves feel like rocks. Food was a problem at times as the supplies along the way were limited so I think we are all a few kilos lighter.
The scenery was absolutely stunning especially when we crossed the pass and were presented with the Grey Clacier, 3rd largest in the world, spread out below us. We then walked beside it and the lake with bobbing icebergs for most of the following day. The back track we took was actually closed because of an ice fall and crossing it was extremely nerve racking. Needless to say within this epic there were a couple of adventures. We saw the entire area in all its glory and today when leaving experienced the wind. It is still with us tonight in Peurto Natales. Gale force by NZ standards but quite normal for here.
We have hired a car and tomorrow leave for 3 days in Argentina
