It is now day 3. A few things to say first are a) it is so hot here. I have said this lots, and was expecting it but I feel as though I must say it again as the sweat is dripping down my as I write this. How attractive I know. b) Nothing has gone wrong so far, except a brief mix up with my visa at the airport which involved me having to go back there on day 2 to get is restamped so I would not get deported later or and/or charged a small fortune which I do not own.
Bangkok is crazy. The whole city is like one big market. Everywhere you look there is a stall with someone on a corner selling food, knick knack's or clothes. The cars are crazy and do not wait for pedestrians at the crossing, but thanks to Sheng's warning I was expecting this and avoided being hit. Hehehe. I didn't like it much to be honest because it is so huge and everyone is always trying to sell you something. We went to the Weekend Market, which covers 28 acres and sells everything you could possibly want to buy at a market. There were even crates of live terepins and stalls selling bags or live goldfish (each bag was jam packed with fish too!) I so wanted a terepin but resisted. :(:(:( OH and there were crates of things which looked like maggots too and I had no idea what they were for. The Bangkok trains are really nice and really cheap but sadly they do not go to the airport :(
We then caught an overnight bus to Chumpon, which took about 6 hours and then caught a ferry to Koh Tao. We arrived here this morning at about 10am. Oh, and by the way, when I say we I mean me and Nick, the other volunteer who is with me for the next 2 weeks.
It is so nice here that words can not describe it. Look at my photos on facebook.I've barely seen any of the island yet and have only been on the beach for a few hours but am already sunburnt a little. But hopefully the next 4 weeks will be fun.
