Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
So today we attempted to go to the police museum again after searching online that they were still there and it was worth going to. It was apparently within the police building itself but we saw no signs for it outside. So after arriving there we saw that the building was now closed and the police department and museum have both been relocated. Lucky for us, the museum is just in the building behind... however today is Saturday and they are closed on the weekend! So I obviously overlooked checking opening times and wrongly assumed a tourist attraction in a capital city would be open at least on Saturday.
So considering parking was already paid for, we hopped on a tram and did some more sightseeing. First stop was AC/DC Lane for its street art then past some old buildings including parliament house which was hosting a free concert. Sadly for the artists there was ************e there.
We walked through the Bourke Street mall and this was probably one of my favourite parts of Melbourne with the visually appealing buildings and musicians busking. We walked down Union Lane, also for the street art which was the least interesting out of the three lanes we have seen. I did expect more street art from the things I have heard and seen in the media. We walked through Degraves St which is bustling with cafes and made our way back to the car. Melbourne was busy in parts but nowhere near what I expected for a weekend. So now we were going to drive past Government House, the Shrine of Remembrance and the Botanical Gardens. Although we were less than a 5 minute drive away, it was more than 30min before we got there which was on our last attempt before we gave up. This was due to all the no right turns and no left turns and we tried circling 3 different blocks before we finally got there. Adding the the mayhem was also lots of horse and carriages. After finally driving through, we went back to camp to try and calm down from the craziness this afternoon.
