We have found the sun at last!! Thailand is brilliant, the sun is beaming, the sea is so warm its like a bath and so blue its stunning and best of all its all so stupidly cheap - i love it! Admittably though first arriving in Bangkok at 2.30 in the morning with no where to stay was a bit of a concern. The place was filthy and it stank! After walking the streets, backpacks and all, for a while with no sign of available accomodation and in desperate need of a shower and a bed we checked out the local 5 star hotel; the cost 14 pound a night! Although an absolute bargain by english standards we thought better of it (we are meant to be slumming it after all) so checked into a nearby isrealian hostel for 2 pound a night instead. It was pretty rank but we were happy enough so stayed there for the next 4 nights spending our days shopping and pretty much buying everything in sight just because we can! Fab! After 4 days we had had enough of the hecticness of bangkok so headed towards the beaches of Ko Samui which are gorgeous. At the ferry port on the journey to the island we were approached by a strange skinny thai man called Tan who smiled and flapped his arms around alot- blantently gay and he was fabulous! so we joined him and a crowd of other travellers over to his beachside resort in Chaweng where we spent the next 3 days in our own beach hut and relaxing in the sea. After that we headed south and are now in Lamai, again in a gorgeous beach hut, this time actually sitting on the beach! The weather has been amazing and we are having a great time sunbathing, swimming around in the sea (last night until 5 in the morning!) and generally winding down before we come home next month. The only bad thing is that the mosquitos here love me and i'm getting eaten alive, other than that this place is perfect.
