Mum, Dad and Paul finally arrived after a long day of travelling at the beautiful hotel right opposite the waterfalls. After much excitement and birthday pressies (I now have a very full case of clothes to accompany the back pack and some beautiful jewellery - not to mention the creative pj's - thanks Viks!) I heard all about Mum and Dad's joyful South American journey - don't think they quite believed me about flights regularly changing gates without warning or announcement!
We headed out to see the spectacular Iguassu waterfalls the next day, walking out onto a platform alarmingly suspended above the raging water. In the afternoon we took a jet boat trip up the rapids to the base of the falls, including a couple of episodes underneath the falls!!Mum even came and enjoyed it!
Then came time to visit the Argentinean side of the falls and put our vote to the debate of which is more spectacular.Devil's Throat is a spectacular sight with an unbelievable amount of water crashing over the edge, although sensational I particularly loved the many small (well relatively speaking!) and multi layered waterfalls of the Brazilian side.In Argentina we walked along lots of metal bridges across the top of the falls, and saw the wreckage of the old walkway which was washed away in a flood - reassuring!!Once back in Brazil we hopped on a 10 minute helicopter flight across the falls, despite Mum's face she claims to have enjoyed this one too!The view and photos from the air were absolutely amazing. We then popped into the bird park and got to hold a macaw!
On our last morning in Foz the rest of the family headed to the dam - having had enough of the sight seeing - I headed to the pool! Oh yeah!
