Foster's Tour
So Darwin....
Once we had all settled into our hostels and said goodbye to Greg we all met up for some thing to eat at a nice resturant ( i had Carbonara pasta if you were wondering). We then headed to a near by bar but every one was tired so most of them went to bed, leaving me, lisa, Magali and Renaud still up. After a litle dancing Lisa went home and i left Magali and Renaud still dancing to hop down the road to a bar showing the England game (the trinidad one) After watching that i sent myself off to bed.
The next day we all did our own thing in the morning, then we all text each other and decided that we would all like to go to near by Lichfield which is a mountain/river/gorge/ national park area. So i went off to enquire about camping equipment and Sam and Scott looked into hiring a car for a day. We all met later that night and sorted out the arrangements fot the next day. We hired a 6 person camping tent (Sam and Scott had their own and Antonia had left to Sydney), we also hired a ground sheet and a bbq grill. Sam booked us onto a Crock jumping tour and Sam and Scott arranged to hire an 8 seater car/mini van overnight. We all went out that night and had a few too many but went to bed not 2 late.
The next morning we got up early and did some shopping to last us the next couple of days in Lichfield and i stole/borrowed (mum) some pots and pans from the hostel. We went and met all the others and then went next door to the car rental place. There we had the camping guy deliver the equipment and once all the paper work was done we set off on our way. First stop the Croc jumping trip. (check to pics of the Croc trip)
When we got there, there were loads of newspaper cutting about how dangerous crocs were and how tragic accidents had happened. Sam had told us on the way that the previous day when he called to book the boat tour the lady had told him that the boat was " Relativly safe" !!! erm hello why not 100% safe. So we were all in a joking yet worried frame of mind. When we saw the boat our fears grew as we boarded what looked like a floating tin. The guide started up the boat and off we set. We headded round the corner on a wide river and the guide told us that there were 50000 crocs which ment there was one every 100 mtrs. Just as he said it he spotted the second largest coroc in the river, no lie it was called sweetheart it was 5 mtrs long, as it got closer and closer we belived him. every one of us started to doubt the quality of the boat and our safety inside it. This corc was MASSIVE !! and ugly and scary. we all started taking pics at arms length trying not to get too close to the edge. Then the guide attached some meat to the end of a rod and dangled it over the edge. He told us that the crocs have to manoover themself into a vertical position so then can swim up and out of the water making it look like they are jumping out..... and it did.... a long way out. Im not joking when i say that the croc could of jumped into the boat...... and we all knew it. It scared the Sh!t out of all of us and once he finished we set off further down the river.
Argh have to go time running out. Will continue soon.
