tuesday 15th august - bangkok today amie, ashley, sam, nick and I went to visit Dusit Zoo. we got a taxi there and the taxi drivers are rubbish they dont know where anywhere is, they always drop u off at the wrong place, u have to show them on the map where u want to go but they still dont know! the zoo was cool got so close to all kinds of animals ...lions, tigers, elephants, monkeys etc all the usual zoo animals. at lunch time amie and I hired pedal boats on the lake...we got carried away at ending up pedaliing out a bit too far on the lake. we looked down into the water and we could see these massive creatures that we thought were alligators right beside us. sam was walking past so we screamed at him to get us out!! anyway we pedalled as fast as we could to get off and told the pedal boat man who just laughed at us! we thought we would investigate this matter further so went to the bit of the lake where we thought they were...turns out they wernt alligators but massive massive lizzards!!! scary stuff! after the zoo we got a tuk tuk back to the hotel and had a nap. at 6pm we met with our other group to start the northern thailand trip. cool tour leader, and everyone seems really nice but their are 3 couples! argh! then went out for a meal as a new group and headed for the bars, only a few of the new ppl came out for drinks as most had just arrived today. met up with lee, rich, sam, ash and pete (from the other group) and went to an irish bar, stayed drinking until 5 in the morning then headed back to the hotel. realised that i had lost the safe key on ,y travels tonite so i got the hotel ppl to cut the safe open for us at 5am!! then bed! wednesday 16th august - bangkok found the safe key in amies bag this morning, dont remember giving it to her! we packed and checked out of our hotel and meet sam and ash for a last goodbye meal, went to pizza hut! hehe the menu is so different. said goodbye to sam and ash, sam is going home and ashley is going to nepal to climb everest...shes crazy that girl. at 4pm we left for the train station for overnight train to chiang mai for our trek. went to the disco carriage for a bit before lights out at 10...they call it a disco carriage but really it just the food room with pretty lights and loud cheesy music, but makes the time go quicker! xx
