monday 14th aug - bangkok
after breakfast today was the offiical end of the tour but everyone still here so we are continuing as a group, so hard to say goodbye! after breakfast janet, amie and i headed down the river on a ferry boat to the Grand Palace which is like a big buddhist temple was absoulty amazing, breathtaking. the archititure was so intricate and detailed. had to dress very modestily as very religious, went into the temple and there are so many different types of etiquette to remember...like u cant face your feet at buddha . lukily janet has done it all before so we followed her lead. then we got a tuk tuk tour of the rest of bangkok, was like 30p for a 2.5 hour tour...saw so much stuff...the golden mount, which we had to climb steps to see cool views over bangkok. then went to Wat Po which had a huge lying down BUddha statue...then went to see the bigeest standing up buddha....then to see an emerald buddha...so we are all buddhaed out today so many buddhas! also went to a suit factory and a gem shop as the tuk tuk driver take u there, if u just look in the shop they get free petrol. tht tuk tuk jounreny was fun, they can turn on a sixpence so they weave in and out of the traffic, u hav to hold on! bangklok is very polluted. they seems to be a smog over the city that holds the heat in. afternoon went to market and bought a headscarf for 1 pound...im turning into such a hippy/gypsy!! in the evening we all went out for a meal as a group still, went to a traditionally thai restaurant overlooking the river where the king eats apparently! if its good enough for the king! ive learned never to order thai food in a thai restaurant as they male it so spicy...in touristy places not as spicy. also never to ask for not spicy as they think its funny to make it as spicy as possible!! had a cook nite said goodbye to the girls butr most people still here yay!!
