Our last night in Samui brought Mr Brandon block and it being Becky and mine's last night together we decided to have a big one. We thought it would also help with the grueling journeys we both faced the next morning at 7.30. A late night would ensure that we were able to sleep on the bus trains and planes we faced for the next 16 hours; me to Krabi and Becky back home.
It certainly delivered as I only have a small recollection of being on the boat the next morning across to the mainland however I woke to discover that Íd left my phone and half my belongings back at the hotel. Doh! But surely Becky would pick them up for me and take them home to give to Paul who is coming out to join me in a couple of weeks. When I finally reached the internet later that day I turned out that Becky did not have my phone but did have my wash bag - 50% isn't too bad except for all the numbers and photo's lost. What a knobhead! So when I arrived Krabiand I managed to canel my phone.
The hotel bungalows were almost on the beach but a little basic (still managed aircon though!) Krabi it's self is also geared up for the tourists but in a much nicer way than Samui. It is so much prettier and spacious and the landscape is just so dramatic. Tall mountains of limestone covered with mountain trees - I have not got a clue how they manage to attached themselves to the rock but they do!!
I had three days in Krabi and on each day I went out on a trip to experience the area. Day one I did a four Island tour taking in Idylic small islands that had sand all round the edges of them. Chicken Island which looked like a chickens head and then a coupe of other beautiful beaches. I met 3 brilliant Irish girls who were a right laugh and spent the next few days doing stuff with them including a night out at a bar called hippies which had fire shows and live music. By the end of the night after a load of stupid dancing and 'buckets' they (we) tried to commender a parked up tuktuk shouting home James! It was like being out with the girls from back home - coz you are all a bunch of nutters too!! I have never seen anyone haggle like these girls either it was hilarious to see them in action and I learned some goods tips and "its all about the calculator!"
The following day we went on a trip which took in a waterfall walk, white water rafting, elephant trekking, and a baby elephant show which involved me getting up and experinecing ta baby elephant massage wihich was one of the funniest things I have ever done. I'm surprised the elephant stayed focused as I couldn't stop laughing through out the whole experience as whilst it massaged me with his foot he sucked on my arm and legs with his trunk!! the rafting was amazing, it was 5k down a pretty quick babbling river avoiding huge rocks and sometime not avoiding them. . . but on purpose I think to give us a lauch. I did however nearly fall out at one hairy point and the only thing keeping me inside was my feet that were wrapped arounbd the feet straps! the guide were great fun too a one called tik so we named the other one tack, which they took in good humour. The Thai people are really nice and friendly and they enjoy a good laugh.
My final trip was to the Island that they filmed the James Bond Movie the man with the golden gun. It was a little bit dissappointing as it the famous rock is much smaller than you would imagine and when you actually get onto the Island lots of tourist stalls have been set up which kinda ruins it abit Doh! However there were a couple of extra bits which did make the trip totally worth while, one of which sea conooeing in the national park taking is all the hongs and seeing walking fish! -- I can only let the pictures talk for this but I need to try and up load them which I am struggling to do.
