Ok well the last day in Bangkok we finaly gotto go and see the grand palace and temple with the reclining budda. we hired a guide who was able to give us the low down on buddhism and what all the different temples, pagoda's, buddas mean. It was quite enlightening especially when he told us there was a monk who could read our astrology charts and palms. Well we jusmped at the chance and went and sat down. Being born on a tuesday means I am a reclining budda which explains why I like my bed so much!!! My unlucky colour is Yellow and Mum and dad - don't worry it seems I will meet the man of my dreams this year or next!!! Excellent news!
With this good news in tow we went off to get our night train-bus and boat over to Ko Pang Ngan, and Island South east of Thailand. the journey took about 18 hours and was quite grueling in places and felt a little like we were being hearded by cattle. We were rather hoping the night train would be a bit like a party train where we'd make friends drink and be merry with the people we met. No such luck, the closest we came to partying was went I asked a porter if he could turn the aitcon down and 3 thai men came in the room to cellotape up the shutter . . the 2 oldish Thai ladies we were sharing with shut their bed curtains at 8.30 so that was curtains to any party aspirations we had.
Anyhow made it there safe and then got conned by the tuk tuk driver who took us to the hotel the a long way round to do 200 yards from the port to the hotel we discovered later that night. Doh. the hotel was Fab though. It was about 8k out of the main centre but that didn't really matter. The resort had a brilliant infinity pool with a swim up pool bar and was right on the beach. They had D.J's playing electro house most nights and agala dinnetr snd free transfer to the main centre on the night of the full moon party which was the main reason we were there.
We really needed transport to get round the Island so we hired mopeds - Mum don't worry the only crash we had was trying to park it and they charged us 70 pound for the scratch. Doh! However it seemed every second person we spoke to had an injury from one of these machines but the general tale was because they had been drinking. we were good and didn't drink and drive which I was very pleased about when we got stopped and searched by the police. I was expecting to have to walk in a line and say my name ten times whist rubbing my belly and patting my head. But all they did was have a quick look in my bag . . probably looking for drugs
More to follow.. as off for dinner.
