Waking up this morning was so peaceful, out in the middle of nowhere. We had a nice home cooked breakfast before chucking our bags back on the coach and making our way down the coast. Again.
On our travels we stopped at a few places and we then headed on to Hervey Bay where we boarded our ferry to Fraser Island. It was only 45 minutes and gave us the chance to have a few glasses of wine in the sunshine. Wasn't long before we arrived on the island and got on the shuttle to Kingfisher Bay Eco Lodges. Jesus the place was massive. We got dropped off and allocated our lodges, and specific rooms within them. This was when I realised who we were sharing the lodge with. Yes that's right, half the noisy Americans and Canadians. Fabulous. The lodges were split into 4 or 5 rooms of 4, with 2 communal bathrooms and a communal area. This was going to be interesting. My character is going to be built like a brick s*** house by time I get back at this rate! I just kept thinking bak to what Jara said - we're not here for a long time (thank god), we're here for a good time (they will be, this will be hell)! Luckily I had my friends in my room with me, so safety in numbers was the way forward.
We didn't have long to get back to the beach for sunset so we had a bum fight for the shuttle, which we lost, and so proceeded to hike the best part of a mile before the sun went down. I had also skulled a bottle of cider, thinking I was gonna make it onto the 'no alcohol' shuttle, only to be left having to walk. My stomach felt like it was gonna explode but I managed to waddle and burp my way to the beach in time. We had all made it down there and so we sat and watched the sunset with our drinks. It was an amazing sight and my camera did me proud! Bloody love that thing. So we sat and chatted for a while, taking in the views. Fiona came over to get something from my bag which was next to me. What she had forgotten was that she had an open bottle of cider in her arms, which tipped over at the same time she bent down to my bag. Covered me it did, all down the side of my top and jeans. I managed to see the funny side, despite the shock and now smelling of baby sick. We headed off to dinner shortly after so I changed my top in the toilet anyway. We were coming to the end of our food when a few of the girls came over announcing "party at lodge 3"...... b******s, guess who was in lodge 3?! Yep, that was our lodge and it sounded like that's where the party was at. Seriously?! Just when I thought it couldn't get much worse! We managed to sort out having a quieter night at some of the others lodge so once we'd got our alcohol we made our excuses and left. As we were leaving, they'd started playing the game that involved questions like where did you first have sex etc. The area they were occupying was thereafter named 'the playground'.
We actually had a really good night, back with the original crew plus a few waifs and strays. We sat drinking, chatting and laughing, ball games, card games. Then at about 12.30 we decided to brave it and head back to the playground to try and get to bed. They were too pissed and noisy to really realise but it took bloody ages to get to sleep that's for sure. Why does this always happen to me?! The wine was sufficient enough to finally get me to sleep though and made me stay that way till the morning.....
