Hi,
Well ive been out in ecuador for over 3 weeks now so thought I ought to start writing something on here!
Really enjoying myself, ecuador is a really beutiful country with lots of very diferent diverse regions. Spent the first week and half traveling around with alex (my friend from uni if you dont her).
Had the first few days in quito, the capital. The old town was nice, lots of old buildings, churches etc. Went in a cable car up the highest volcano, amazing views at the top, prob the best thing about quito. visited the middle of the world museum and saw the momument from distance (was sunday and ques too long to go in!) Went on a day trip to the largest indigenous market in ecuador and to see traditional weaving, musical instruments, dancing and walk to a waterfall. The new town was very touristy but was good for going out in the evenings.
Spent the next 4 days out in the jungle, had to take 11 hour overnight buses there and back but was definately worth it, was amazing- lots of treks, canoing, boat trips down the river, swiming in the river and this amazing lake. Saw loads of moneys, birds, parrots, frogs, spiders, caymen and loads more, our guide was really good. Met loads of nice people out there and the ecolodge was a really fun place to stay. Has been my favourite place so far on the trip.
After we went down to the central highlands- went to this volcanic crator which has a lake in the middle and treked down to it. Really amazing landscape around there.
The next morn me and alex went our seperate ways- me over to the coast to learn spanish and volunteer at the hospital and alex to see a bit more of ecuador and the galapagos before she goes back to england. But anyway, will have to write about that another time as internet cafe about to close!
