Decided to ditch National Park and head to the coast for some better weather and it worked!! Like driving out of the storm and the blue sky is getting bigger! Amazing! Now somewhere along the way to Wanganui hoping we haven't gone north by mistake

Today we drove from Rotorua looking for (free!) geothermal things. Saw boiling water coming straight from the ground (picture) and bubbling mud pools which spat at Nick and dirtied one of his few remaining clean tops... Most things smell of the ocean or rotting eggs... Our towels are damp... And our car smells like feet!

We're now in Tongariro National Park ready to do the Alpine Crossing but the weather is awful so looks unlikely... 65km/h winds on the top at the moment so could be a bit hairy! We spoke to a nice man in a ski shop and it turns out that when mother nature heard we were coming she turned the heat wave into electric storms! We've got to wait until 7.30 tomorrow am to get the final verdict but thinking we'll try to fit it in at the end before we fly home... Bit of ...

We've now found that McDonalds have free wifi Internet so can update the blog everytime we see one now :D Ps. Emma has a cold so is a bit ratty... Nick has no excuse though!! :P

We're now on our way down south in our hire car (red one in the photo) and is so nice not to be running for a coach! Heading to rotorua today to see geothermal area :)
