After getting to sleep about 3am we were up again at 6am to wait for our taxi to collect us from our hotel for our Milford Sounds trip. Had been told we'd be collected at 6.45am and 7.10 am so we checked out then Nick waited outside the hotel for 20mins while I went to eat breakfast... and stashed some toast and a pain au chocolat. The plan was that Nick would go after I got back but didn't happen.
Started the journey to Milford Sounds... Left 7.30am arrived 1pm = epic.
Lots to see along the way like mirror lakes and beautiful waterfalls. The scenery is stunning and they have a river which was tested to be 99.8% pure H2O! Also a green creamy looking lake which is a bit of a mystery but they think might have been caused by an avalanche 400yrs ago.
Had a nap for a bit too... Although realised everytime I fall asleep my head falls to the left so I look a bit special!! Luckily nobody sitting beside me to fall onto! :)
Stopped in Te Anau for toilet break and looked around a little tourist shop although quite cheap.. Fetched 4 decent AA batteries for $10 aka £5.
So... Once again is raining today bit is expected here... Milford Sounds has 3m of rainfall each year apparently. Hence got soaked on the cruise but we saw some seals on some rocks (nick didn't even scare them away this time!) Also a bit of an episode when skipper drove boat into the waterfall spray and lots of Chinese screaming people when the door out to the deck wouldn't close and everyone inside was getting soaked!
Now very soggy and tired so gonna nap on coach again (nick's already well away!) before we get back to Queenstown and have to find somewhere to sleep.
