Lo again,
We're currently stuck in Piura in northern Perú waiting for a bus onto Trujillo from where we can get a bus to Huaraz. Lots of waiting around, not much fun.
We left Cuenca a day early as there didn't seem much else to do there, except for seeing Evan Almighty (dubbed in Spanish) and buying a crappy (but cheap) panama hat. All very mediocre, but a pretty city.
Next was onto Vilcabamba for a half-arsed attempt at visiting the Amazon while we're on the anti-malarials. It failed slightly, as Vilcabamba can hardly be described as being in the Amazon, but it was a nice enough place. We went for a lickle hike around the nature reserve behind our hotel and the next day on a 6 hour horse ride through the surrounding mountains of Parque Nacional Podocarpus. Despite being a lot of fun, it bloody hurt. We've not been able to walk properly since and it may take several weeks to recover. Several cheap crepes did help to soothe the pain, however.
Fitting, then, that we were booked on an overnight 8 hour bus journey into Perú the next day. We mooched around Loja (the town from which the bus was leaving) for a day, killing time, and I bought a rondador there (some kind of pentatonic, harmonic panpipes). We also spent a fair bit of time on a wild moose chase for more crepes.
And then we were on a bus, and now we're here. Three more hours til the bus leaves, and b***** all to do. It's for times like these that we have RSP2X+ (The College Years). We're in the process of developing RSP2X+(TCY) Double Team. Don't worry, we'll teach you when we get back.
We don't have camera stuffs to hand, so it's another old photo (not that we have anything more interesting on the way).
Bye then,
Nick & Vic
