Hey up folks,
Since our last blog we've been to Papantla & Veracruz, and we're now in Oaxaca.
Papantla is quite a scary place - too small & local - but we had a nice trip to El TajÃn (despite completely useless instructions from everyone for catching the bus there). We'll put photos up soon. Papantla & Veracruz were a lot hotter than Mexico City. We got sunburnt on the beach in Veracruz (but we didn't sit on any jellyfish). Veracruz is a very nice town. The beaches are a bit scabby but no worse than the solent, but with lovely warm water. We saw a crusty pigeon (paloomo) in the park, it looked like that simpsons when Homer had lazer eye surgery - ¡fuchi!
We took an overnight bus to Oaxaca on Monday and got no sleep whatsoever, and arrived to cold and wet weather, and news of more local riots. Taxi driver had no idea where our hotel was, but we got there in the end. On the subject of the hotel, defo the best accommodation here so far - up a hill just outside the city, with a gorgeous view of the valley and hills on the other side, swimming pool, trampoline, cocktail bar and our ensuite is bigger than the bedroom in the last place, and all for a cool 280 pesos a night.
Today was Monte Alban. Yet more temples, but this time set on top of a very tall hill amongst lush greenery. Lovely. There were also lots of lizards.
We're running out of time now so we'll say bye for now.
Bye for now,
Vic and Nic
