I arrived in Beijing feeling quite tired and got a taxi to my Hostel, Saga International which is nice. I arrived quite early and there were no rooms available so I had to wait in the lounge.
Anyway, got my room at abot 12.00 and had a shower before venturing out to explore. I went to Tiananmen Square first which is huge amd very busy. The square could only be entered in the 4 corners and there was police security to scan your bags. The square is very impressive and is surrounded by the Forbidden City gate, the National Parliament and the National Museum. It was very crowded and very hot so had to drink lots of water.
After the square i had a quick look at the Forbidden City which again was even more crowded. Very imprssive. Did not spend too long there though because of crowds and the heat.
Then I headed back to my hostel and relaxed before eating dinner. I talked to several other people who had done the Trans-Mongolian Express in the opposite direction from me.
