Bbbrrrrrhhhhh.................it?s rather chilly down here but still no snow boo hooh!! We`ve been told that there is usually a meter of snow at this time, we shouldn?t complain though as we?ve had beautiful sunshine thanks to global warming.
The ride down here was an absolute killer and took us almost 30 hours on a bus with only two small breaks in between. I never want to get on a bus again and thankfully won?t have to for a while.
The main thing to down here is to hike and look at the amazing landscape most importantly the glaciers. We?ve seen a few glaciers in our time but this one is the most spectacular I have ever seen. First of all it finishes in a lake which is unusual as they are usually high in the mountains and finish in a small stream. Also, glaciers normally finish with an incline, this one stops dead with a 60 meter wall of ice towering above you. Every so often there would be a massive cracking sound as a piece fell into the lake. It?s too difficult to explain but the photos may do it a bit of justice when we get ourselves into gear and download them.
Steve went off horse riding today but even the thought of it makes me sneeze. I have spent the day chilling out pampering myself and looking at the amazing view of the lakes and mountains from our hostel.
Tomorrow we are off to Puerto Natales in Chile to catch the Navimag boat which will take us north again to Puerto Montt. Hopefully along the way we will get a chance to spot whales, penguins, seal and other marine life.
