We decided to go on a mini safari instead and so spent the day in the national park. We went elephant trekking which I swear to god was the most terrifying thing I have ever done. Our elephant was definately more insane than the others and where everyone else was rocking along nicely, we were lurching from side to side. Then we had to go downhill. Well. I thought we were going to go straight over the elephants head and land in front to be trampled on. Great...

Still in Phuket but think we are going to leave a day early. Patong is lovely but too touristy. Tomorrow we are going on a our to Phi Phi island, where they filmed the beach. Also there is a place there called monkey beach where they have monkey running around (strangely enough!) - how cool is that??? The next stop is Koh Samui where hopefully we will get a hut on the beach which would be good.

Arrived in Phuket late last night as we decided we wanted to get to the beach asap and didnt fancy getting an overnight bus (so lazy and not at all traveller like!). Had an absolutely crazy taxi driver from the airport! He didnt speak any English apart from OK. He also kept shouting what sounded like 'Compacha' at us very loudly and often and pointing at the radio! We had no idea and just kept smiling. I wish I knew what it meant though.... Woke up this...

Arrived safely and after walking the wrong way managed to find our hostel which was tiny but very nice and just round the corner from the Khao San Road. Really liked the Khao San Rd but nowhere near as big or as busy as I thought it would be! Very cheap though which is fantastic!!
