Tried limoncello for the first time today. First sip took my breath away. Second sip actually had a nice flavour and wasn't so strong. Enjoyed the rest but wont be drinking it often! We drove along the Amalfi Coast today to Positano. (think Gillies highway on really high cliff tops with scary crazy drivers including our mini bus driver!) What a day! Lucky I have boots that were made for walking :-) they started a new early entry with Trafalgar today into Vatican museum so we were there by 8am way before the crowds. The history of popes, kings and artists from today is amazing. Within the museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peters the history of Rome is evident. Some pope's even had their own little signatories they had worked into the art work they commissioned. Can't believe Michaelangelo stood for 4 ...

A quiet day today. Some relaxation this morning and then a walk to the Angels castle (Castel Sant Angelo). Checked in at the tour hotel which is five star and soooo much nicer. My roommate is from South Africa and also on this trip to celebrate her 40th (in April). We joined the group (all 46 of us) and went for a drive around this evening (a great lookout at the top of Trastevere) before enjoying dinner and entertainment together. Another amazing day. Did a cooking class with Chef Andrea in Trastevere. Found my way there ok this morning but had a slight hiccup getting home. After walking for 25 mins I ended up at same piazza so thought a taxi was in order! Learnt how to make tiramisu, homemade pasta with boscaiola sauce, chicken cacciatore (the authentic way), and pumpkin flowers stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto or egg plant. There were 11 of us in the class and we had lots of fun...

Buon compleanno a me!!!!! Had an amazing day today. Fresh croissants for breakfast and then off to the Pantheon to meet my guide for the My Rome Food Tour. Spent the next 4 hours with guide Irene (originally from Holland) and Alex and Heather from Philladelphia. We explored the history of food in Rome - coffee, snacks, of course pizza and pasta, sweets - as we walked around many cobblestone streets.
