An early rise at 3:40am to be at the international airport ready to fly to Amsterdam. All air travel went well and I quickly moved before takeoff to a row of seats by myself in a window seat!!
Was surprised to find the airport well signed in English. Had a quick coffee while waiting for Vickie. For some reason the trains had stopped running regularly and only hourly. Luckily we caught one back not long after I met up with her as it had been delayed.
Arrived in Dordrecht and went to Vickie's apartment - fourth floor with no elevator. Beautiful view of a park across the road. We had a late brunch and then walked around the town area, including the waterways. I had my first ever stroopwafel which was delicious.
I think Vickie had an evil plan all along of getting me to go bike riding. The Dutch mostly travel by push bike. Most have the old style bikes as well, not the modern mountain bikes or racers. It is actually really cute watching everyone ride around on their bikes. Oh and no helmet rule!
Just after 7pm we head off on bikes to go to dinner. We went to Villa Augustus where we both had a gorgeous makeral dish. Riding home at 10pm was an experience. By then it was 8 degrees and freezing, especially when you add int he wind factor! Vickie of course thought it was funny that I rode yelling at her about how cold it was. My face and fingers were frozen by the time we got home :-)
As I am going to bed at midnight I hear the church bells ringing?!?!?!?!?! Apparently then ring them every hour including all through the night. Luckily I didn't wake every hour!!!!
