This morning we spent with the elephants. First off we went for a ride, Laurie and I on Lucky, a 28yo male elephant. And Bob and Deb on Mira, a 25yo female. The elephants live for well over 100 so these two were just youngsters. When then got it feed them cut up pumpkins by placing them right inside their mouths. You couldn't help but get a little lick from there tongues which felt a little icky. Then Lucky showed how he could drag large timber logs by placing a rope tied around the log in his mouth and wrapping the rope around his tusk, very impressive. He also showed us how he lifted a log onto his tusks and carried it. Finally, and this was the fun part, he lay down in a pool of water and we washed him and then each of us took turns of sitting on his back while he sprayed us with water from his trunk!! We were saturated but it was heaps of fun. We had a quick visit to a spice plantation, which was really a tour of one of the locals acreage yard full of all types of food plants before back on the road to Kumarakom where we are staying the night in a tranquil lakeside hotel.
