Kelley got a nice sleep in this morning until 8.30am. We didn’t have anything to do until tonight and decided to go fishing.
Neil, Kelley, William, Steven & Ben all squished into the green car and headed to a place called Hillary’s, which is a boat harbour north of Perth. It’s a beautiful spot, with a ship wreck just off shore and big retaining walls on the jetty to fish off. We found a spot (right at the end!). On the walk there however, Neil had realise we had bought the fishing rods, except we had left the reels back at the caravan park. Luckily we still had hand lines to use. Once we got to our spot, we quickly threw our lines in. Not much was happening. We couldn’t even see any signs of fish. Neil struggled casting the handline, but got the hang of it eventually. After about 2 hours of nothing, we moved around a bit from our spot, Kelley had a turn while Neil watched William, who had no fear of the all the rocks. Kelley finally saw a fish and was determined to catch it. There were lots of little fish, but they just seemed to eat the bait off the hook without latching on. After a few attempts and no luck, we gave in. Neil thought he would have another turn in a different spot. Not long after he threw the line in, the float disappeared into the water. He quickly reeled it in to find a brown fish on the end. It was a decent size, probably 30cm long. We have no idea what breed it was, but after the kids had a look we there it back. Not long after we gave in and headed back on the long walk to the car.
We had our first official meet for the Valiant rally tonight. We all met in Camberwell Park again, where we had met on a few previous occasions. There were more cars there tonight and was nice to see a few 2 door R & S Valiant too; one of which had a V8 that Neil was rather impressed with. We went inside for dinner and the raffles, this time with no luck. We received our welcome packages which included our T-shirts (luckily Kelley got a bigger size to fit her growing belly) and a gift pack for William. One we were told of our early start we called it a night and headed home.
