This is a city you really should visit. Fair enough i have not seen a lot of Japan as i am doing a whistlestop tour and i have heard there are some amazing little towns if you have time to get out and about. Plenty to keep you interested for a good few days, big enough to get lost in (which i think is the best part about Kyoto as you get to seem so amazing sites that you might not see on the main routes) but easy enough to find your bearings as it is built in...

Koh Lanta was fantastic. We stayed on Long Beach just 2 mins from the beach and a 5min tuk tuk journey to the main town centre. This place a has a real laid back feel to it and is not overcrowded to ridiculous proportions like Koh Samui and Ko Pi Pi. The beach and beach front bars are plenty to keep you occupied and you will struggle to find more genuine and friendly thai's in the country. Unfortunately we did not stay here on Langkawi! We did love Langkawi though. Bordering Malaysia and Thailand just off the west coast. Langkawi was just busy enough to give it a great atmosphere but not overcrowded by a longshot. Perfect white sand beaches and crystal clear water. Really can recommend Langkawi as a must see island. Arrived on Penang after an 8 hour train journey from KL, with a 20 minute ferry crossing onto the island. The journey was great fun and some of the scenery on the way was fantastic. Part of that journey was skirting round the Cameron Highlands which would have been amazing to stop off at, if we had more time. Could have done some serious trekking there.
