We flew from Burnie to Melbourne on the smallest plane ever! Jenny I can see why you don't like small planes now!!! you can feel every bump - flying never really bothered me before until this flight!!
Melbourne is much busier than Tasmania, but it is nice to be back in a city with everything on your door step.
We have wondered around the city - so many shops so little time!!! Managed to go window shopping for an afternoon, that's all Neil could last for. He says mum you've got a lot to answer for recommending shopping here!!! Couldn't buy anything as I have no space in my backpack - how annoying!
We went to the Southbank, which is along the River Yarra, this is a lovely area with new bars and art galleries etc. The parks are nice round there too.
We took a tour to Phillip Island to see the Little Penguins, they are the smallest penguins in the world and only live in Oz and New Zealand. It was good to see them, they are so cute. They are really noisy, which we weren't expecting! The only thing is that is was really touristy and busy, which was annoying.
We went on the Neighbours tour yesterday, it was very chessy which is to be expected. We went to Erinsborough High School, which is a real high school used for the outside scenes. Then went to Grease Monkeys and Carpenters Cars and after that went to Ramsey Street. The street is Pin Oak Court in real life and they have a deal with the residents that they can use the gardens and the street in return they have a 24 hr security guard, have their gardens done and get paid - think they get a good deal. We met Libby Kennedy as well, she'll be returning to Neighbours in Jan in the UK. She's so petite and talks a lot!! She's been touring in Dirty Dancing as Baby - apparently it is a must see musical. Girls we must get round to booking the tickets soon or we'll never get round to having our trip to London - Jess your in charge of organising it!!!!
We have also been to the Pixar exhibition in by Federation square. This was full of kids (think it is school holidays now), but we really enjoyed it. It shows all the processes they go through to make an animation and we got to watch 4 short shows too.
We're going to the aquarium today as we can't seem to find a dive company in Melbourne and then we're going to watch the rugby tonight! Off to Canberra tomorrow.
