Thought I would put a random picture on here as we haven't got any for where we went uploaded yet!!!
We decided to do a captial and country tourist drive to Canberra! We went via Bendigo, Echuca, Yarrawonga and Albury before getting to Canburra. It was a lot of driving but nice to go inland for a while.
Bendigo is in the goldfields and was created during the era of the gold rush. The town is lovely with lots of period buildings and parks etc. We went down a gold mine to 58 m. It was interesting to hear how the used to mine gold. They still do that under the city but there is one company who own the mine. we got to see gold still in the rocks as well and fools gold. There wasn't much of it and it was behind a screen!
The other towns we visited are on the Murray River and they were also really nice and from the same era. The river is really low and you can see how bad the drought it out here. The land is really dry and the crops don't look very good at all. It looks almost like desert in some places and the sheep and cows look really thin too!
