Hi Folks,
It's been a while but the last thing you want to do after a hard day on the slopes is to come in and write a travel blog. Especially when you haven't had a couple of beers yet.
First of all I want to give a big Happy Birthday Shout out to my mum who turned 60 yesterday. Happy Birthday Mum - You don't look a day over 59.
So Carolann and I are now pretty much settled in Queenstown. Since my last blog I have pretty much been trying to find a job and we have moved into our new pad.
On Friday 1/8 we moved into the house in Fernhill. We have a beautiful basement room with en-suite that has big patio doors leading out onto a balcony that looks over Lake Wakatipu. We are sharing with two guys from Scotland called Colin and Chris. They both work on the lifts at Coronet Peak Ski Resort.
I have also managed to find a job (part time in KFC). I wear the uniform with pride and eat the chicken with a smile on my face. Seriously though, I have worked two shifts so far and althouh I can't exactly say that I love it, the people that work there all seem to be really nice. I'm sure that working there will not be too bad.
I also bought a car yesterday. It is a 98 Nissan Sentra that has done 312,000km. The bumper is held on by zip ties and there is dents on both sides. It doesn't even have a radio but the heater works so Carolann is happy. I reckon that driving a tank would use less effort but it was only £200 so if it breaks then it's not the end of the world. Today we took it on it's first road trip to a place called Arrowtown (about 25km's away) and apart from the odd funny noise it seemed to work alright. Just got to think of a name for it now. Arrowtown was quite nice. It's and old mining town but there wasn't much going on there so we just got some lunch and left.
Apart from that I don't really have much more news. We did have a good day out at a place called snowpark last Saturday. They were hosting the Burton Snowboarding New Zealand Open 2008. Snowboarders there were unreal - doing stuff that I couldn't even comprehend how hard and dangerous it was. Check out the pics and vids I have uploaded.
Well, hope everyone at home is well and till next time, take care.
