Apple bottom jeans...boots with the furrrr
It's only just 8am San Fran time so I don't quite know why I'm up already but whatever...
I went on THE best shopping trip yesterday! I just mooched around Union Sq and Fisherman's Wharf all day. I even saw the sea lions on pier 39 - haha they were hilarious and so sea lion-y lol. I found an Irish shop on the Pier and got myself a ring (have developed a slight ring obsession lately lol) and then felt annoyed with myself for being such a typical British tourist that the first thing I buy comes from an Irish shop. Oh well, the man had a very sexy Irish accent lol so I figured that I could justify it that way.
Got lost walking back to Union Sq and in the end gave up on my 'healthy, breezy, I can walk 20 minutes' attitude and hailed a taxi. I've just about got the knack of calling them now but still feel like a complete idiot standing on the side of the road with my arm stuck out shouting 'taxi!'. The door men at the hotels have special taxi whistles which seem to be like a taxi drivers equivalent to catnip, off it goes and they all come speeding around the corner. Im going to have to get myself one.
Had a great chat with the taxi driver who was interested to know all about 'Geordie Brown' our prime minister, I wasn't really qualified to give him the complete political low down on the country but I prattled on about the economy and what not and I think I sounded convincing enough. His final advice to me was that I should emigrate as soon as possible so perhaps I didn't paint the best view of Britain.
Stopped off at the levi's shop and bought 10 pairs of Levi's. Lol I've not gone mad, they weren't all for me and I only bought that many because they were only like $30 each which is ridiculously cheap. They also have a customization shop on the ground floor where you can have about anything embroidered/painted/burnt/torn/sewn onto your jeans. I had a flick through the catalogue but once I started getting caught up in all the designs of broccoli and other strange things you can request I thought it was better to leave before I decided upon something stupid.
Was accosted (I say accosted, more like I walked over and started ooh-ing over a stall of nail accessories) by two men selling the coolest nail stuff I have ever seen in my life. Ended up buying like one thing though they were a bit pushy, very nice though but kept wanting me to say 'lovely' for them as apparantly my british accent was 'soooooo cute.' Lol.
Lot's of people keep saying to me "oh gee you're british, I thought you had an accent!" This really confuses me as it is obvious that anyone who says 'gee' also has an accent, namely in these situations an american one but perhaps they consider themselves to be accent free, I don't know. I said to one man "yes us british people tend to have accents" but I don't think he realised I was being sarcastic as he replied "yeah I guess that's the way it is."
SO anyway I finally walked away from nail boutique after being asked if I would go out with the sales guy for sushi twice. I said no because a) I am a 19 year old on my own in San Francisco and b) a man who makes his living selling nail polishing and 'glitzing up your nails with pretty little diamonds' does not really appeal massively lol. He was very nice though. That is the third time this week I have been propositioned by strange men, two guys asked me to go to LA with them and another asked if he could pick me up from my hotel for dinner. This kind of thing does not happen as much in the UK, nobody has ever said "do you want to come to Wales with me?" but then there's probably a good reason for that. Crazy stuff.
Anyway so today I'm taking it easy with two boxes of lucky charms that I bought yesterday at WalMart. I'm not sure whether it was the Irish guy or the promise of high yields of E numbers in the marshmallows that made me run out to buy them but either way they are the best thing ever.
Off now for a lucky charms breakfast, lunch and dinner. So as people genuinley say here (and I am going to try and get it to catch on in the uk...maybe):
"bye y'all"
