found nemo...
Ok so the above picture is not mine, It's not even in San Francisco, it's in wyoming but I have seen those mountains so I figured it's ok to use it. I am so frustrated by not being able to upload my pictures so I'm stuck with these ones for the minute.
I had such an ab fab day today!! Seriously, it was the best!
I got up feeling kinda sick from the two boxes of lucky charms I've got through in the last 3 days (best cereal EVER!!) so had the most amazing all fruit breakfast - fruit here is huge, and so cheap!!
Anyway enough about eating. Set off in a taxi (yes I know I'm lazy) to the Aquarium of The Bay because I figured I may as well do all of the typical touristy stuff whilst I'm here. It wasn't too bad actually, lots of random pictures now with me posing around with starfish and whatnot. The urge to re-enact 'finding nemo' scenes was overwhelming as anything lol but I resisted the temptation by just going over them in m head haha. Besides, I'm not sure all the other tourists would have appreciated me shouting "wheeeere areee weeeee goooing?" dorie style. For those of you concerned I AM JOKING lol I would not do that, tempting yes, but no I refrained.
So yeah after successfully finding nemo or his cousin or whatever, and seeing some gross jellyfish and running away from the 'petting' section horrified to see little children prodding star fish, went to the Sea Lion cafe. I'll spare you the food details and just say that I saw a sort of sea lion fight. It was funny, these three sea lions were fighting for the best floating podium thing (which, ironically, was the one with the Pier 39 sign on it) and throwing each other off. There was a huge crowd watching and cheering which absolutely cracked me up because, like, do they really think the sea lions know they are cheering them on? People were giving court side tips and everything it was hilarious. Very amusing indeed.
After my pasta and peach smoothie (couldnt resist, sorry) I walked (yes, walked) up to fort mason which was cool. There was a really beautiful park overlooking the bay and it was lovely and windy. The mist as just comnig up off the bridge and it was sort of gothic, sort of...but not really, I think I'm just trying to convince myself lol. There was a big coastal stretch with lots of excercise fanatics jogging/ cycling along and doing pressups. I think I was the only person in a t-shirt, everybody else seemed to think it was cold and was wearing a fleece.
I stopped in at an American Craft fair which was ok, interesting but overpriced. I did see some really beautiful hand crafted toys though and Japanese style embroidered paintings which focused on cherry blossom, they were lovely! Finally I planned to walk up the beach a little farther and go to the explratorium but disaster struck along Marine Boulevard when I spotted row after row of nail salons. Well, obviously I HAD to stop in there to get my nails done...but ended up getting a maniucre, pedicure and having my eyebrows done. It was fabulous!! I did have to go home with sunglasses on because my eyebrows made me look a bit like some circus clown with the red lines all the way around but it was worth the mortification.
Speaking of clowns, I saw one today! I was absolutely horrified, I didn't know whether to scream and run away or try and kill it. I didn't kill it, don't worry lol but I was very upset by the whole experience - that is how I justified spending an hour in the nail salon, it was to recover from my shock. I would like to point out that clowns are not amusing, they are evil and scary and being afraid of them is a recognised phobia supported by the 'truly pathetic people society' (lol only joking, but the phobi is real.)
Urgh, makes me shudder just thinking about it, I think I'll go and look at my nails to calm myself down. I'm going to read a book, I feel starved of literary ontent after reading 3 issues of cosmo - learning the sex position of the month is always intriguing (although september didn't have one which was a change) I would much rather go and see what Oscar Wilde has to say about life. I shall report back if I find any life changing truth lol.
jokes!
love love
