We woke up pretty hungover and slowly but surely made our way to the train station where we then had to wait a couple of hours in maccas for the train. After another few hours on the train we made it to Rome which around the train station is pretty ghetto. It took us an hour to find the hostel that wasn't far at all, we are just so slow with the backpacks on. It was more of a bed and breakfast really, had our own in a small apartment type thing, and we got breakfast. There had been nothing decent left when we were booking a few days ago. We dropped our bags and soon after head out to meet up with Richard and Theekshna, and A couple of other groups of people. Afterwards a few of us went to the colosseum which was lit up as it was night by this point. It was so beautiful! We took a bunch of photos, not without being interrupted by a guy trying to sell flowers to Richard to give me to me as his wife (disturbing), but when he's bought some for Theekshna he said ahhhh you like black, black black beautiful and proceeded to point out the rest of us whiteys, "white white white". We were going to go out but decided to drink at one of our hostels bars until it closed. Again, not without being harassed at our table by an annoying guy from Perth working the room. There's always one of them!
We all met in the morning at 10.30 but by the time we all turned up it was past 11. We went to some big piazza, and then slowly made our way to the Spanish Steps, making pitstops on the way to shop (or eat for the males waiting). From there we walked over to the Trevi fountain and did some more shopping during the afternoon.
That afternoon, everyone else left in various directions but Elissa and I still had one more night so we spent some time that might wandering around the Roman forum. Rome at night is all lit up its very beautiful amongst the ruins. Kind of creepy but cool. On the way back picked up an overpriced quarter of a watermelon and then head back to our place.
