Pisa is only an hour away from Florence by train, so we took a day trip to see the leaning tower of Pisa. It was so worth it to see and so surreal being there having seen so many photos of it! There wasn't much else to do in Pisa, but it was nice to escape the crowds of Florence though. It was a relatively quiet little town, there weren't even signs to the leaning tower from the train station. It was an ordeal in itself trying to find it. The directions were simple enough but we took a couple of wrong turns in the process and people were giving us different directions. When we finally arrived, I was so excited, it's so cool! I really loved the leaning tower, seeing it is one of my highlights of Italy so far. The Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles) where the tower is located also has a huge cathedral and baptistery. They are also pretty amazing. I am so glad I invested in my new camera with all these photo opportunities! We also got to see the last 'painting' this famous graffiti artist (Keith Harring) did in 1989. Was cool to stumble upon having read about it before. For lunch we shared a four cheeses pizza and spinach and cheese ravioli in a napolitana sauce, it was a quality meal! I have found so far that if you go for the simple Italian meals, you're guaranteed a good one. It doesn't need to be loaded up with ingredients, just a couple of simple ones. We wandered around Pisa, passed through the piazza dei cavalieri, lay on the (super soft and green) grass at the Campo dei Miracoli and did some window shopping before heading back to Florence.
