Neil's Round the World Trip!
I got up early today, this is going to be a Pepsi Max day (busy). An old bearded traveller on the other bunk gave me "Death in the Andes" for "Angels and Demons by Dan Brown"; fair swop I think. An Aussie girl Rhea (as in...?) was doing yoga stretches but later she made me some porridge. We decided to go into town with an Irish guy called Craig.
We walked to the nearby metro station called Los Heroes and got on the super efficient underground. We got off at Los Leones and walked around the affluent area of Providencia. We were greeted off the underground by violinists (this is the rich part of town!). The Aussie girl doesn't shave under her arms and well it's really noticeable. I could see Craig's expression when he saw one of the giant tufts of hair, it was priceless!
Anyway we walked past the smart stores, cafes and restaurants. We then got on the metro to Santa Lucia and climbed the summit which gives great views of the surrounding area. We couldn't see the Andes today because of the smog. A gripe I have with Santiago is it's too polluted. My throat is actually sore just from the smog that's bad! We walked to the Museo Chileno de Arte PreColombino and looked at the fascinating collection of Incan, Mayan and Mapuche artefacts. We then stopped at the supermercado on the way home and picked up some food.
I had my lesson with Jesus and it was quite intense but managed to do more on the past tense and make it a little trickier by throwing in a few other things. After my lesson Jesus asked if I wanted to get a bite to eat in the nearby restaurant, which is really cheap. I had to speak Spanish for the whole meal Jesus informed me. It was difficult but I managed somehow.
Me and Roberto then spoke to a gang of Germans from Dresden and had drinks with them in Platipus Bar. We stayed there until 4am and then had a cup of tea before going to bed.
