Hey guys!
So i promised an edition with Internet cafe and my two new found friends. Here it is. (appologise for any spelling mistakes and weird grammar over the last few entries as i only have an hour to update everything)
So my first friend is, well, dont think me sad but everytime i walk to the internet cafe, there is a little cat that sits at the bottom of the stairs of the bridge and everytime i walk past it looks up and meows. it probably does this to everyone but i think it's sweet. Yesterday it was playing with some glass and i shooed it off, it's a street cat but in good condition, clearly no one owns it though, just like the stray dogs that sit on the street corners and roam the roads. Its little and blank and tan and with one wall eye that's all blue swirls.
I took it a pot of plain yogurt that i stole from the breakfast counter this morning from the hotel. it wasnt there sitting at the bottom of the step today, i dont know if that is a sign or just because the sun is beating down today and it is hiding in the shade, i will check again when i leave here otherwise the yogurt will go off and thats never a good thing. stinky yogurt. Yummy.
The other firend is the lady with a little boy in the internet cafe, she is beautifully friendly and has helped me no end with my endless questions and queries. I cannot pronounce her name let alone right it down here in thai but she is a lovely lady. the staff here are always happy and easy going (i think it's the powerful air-con that keeps everyone cool that does it) but honestly, they are the nicest people i have met yet, their english is very good, as you would expect from an internet cafe owner and visa travel agent the other half.
Her little boy (about 5) does not like white girls and he will not talk to me and threw a roll of string at me yesterday just for asking about his day at school! he is sitting next to me today though while i type. not sure if i am getting on his good side or not?? ah time will tell.
Anyways I promised directions.
So the area above Khoa San road is called Phra Nakhon, it is just across the river from Khao San, running parrallel with the street. Okay so here goes with my directions. Okay so as you leave the WEST entrance of Khoa San road, you hit a long stretch of a road crowded with food stalls day and night with barely a gap to walk through. This is Thanon CHAKRABONGSE. Turn RIGHT on to this road as if you want to leave the 'Old City'. Walk past the entrance to the road that everyone always thinks is Khoa San (Thanon Tani) and past the next road too called (Thanon Kraisi). After those two streets you will hit a massive crossing with big traffic lights above the road and count down numbers for the cars until the lights change to green. This road you need to cross. You can either cross so that you are on the other side (the side you need to be on) or you can cross later after the bridge.
Once you are over the big road (Thanon Phra Sumen) you reach the area called Phra Nakhon. AND THE BRIDGE. When you are on the bridge, if you are on the left hand side of the bridge you will see my friend the cat if you look down the steps and if you are on the right side of the bridge there is a huge hostel called DIAMOND HOTEL. (NEW WORLD CITY) it's bright orange, you cant miss it and about ten stories tall.
On the left hand side of the road, JUST AFTER THE BRIDGE, here is the internet cafe all in glass. It doesnt have a name but in the windows, big signs say Internet Cafe 30 Baht an hour. It's the cheapest and cleanest around.
Also a note to add, if you need the toilet and you are polite and smile and make small talk, they will let you use the toilet for 30 baht even if you do not use the internet. Most places will not. Be nice, be friendly and remember that they have an air-con store, and that is a god send when all else is 38 degrees!!
Be good to my friends if you come into the internet cafe they are good people.
Ciao my friends, x
