Nick and I were woken in the early hours by a storm that came through and the din on the roof was incredible. The annex sounded as if it would take off down the river but we were all toasty inside so it didn't matter. Before going to bed I cut up a tarp and lined the queen and double bed with it and it seemed to work. The kids slept through the storm and we all remained dry. Anna woke later on, about 4am, wanting to look in the mirror and check her nose - it's peeling from sunburn - as she keeps picking it and making it bleed. I think she'd had a bad dream about it and so climbed into bed with us and was back asleep within 5 minutes. By the time we all work up in the morning it was 8.45am and the sky was blue. Nick made everyone breakfast then we put the generator on for coffee and started schoolwork. Today we played maths games and the time flew by. We had another coffee instead of lunch and then set off for Mount Gambier and another explore. We drove to the Umpherston Sinkhole first and had a walk around the beautiful gardens there. The kids loved hiding amongst the tall plants although Katharine couldn't relax after reading a sign about falling rocks! Next we drove to Blue Lake and it was stunning. The sun came out just as we got there and the water was the most vivid blue. We found an amazing play area beside Valley Lake and stopped for an hour for everyone to have a run around. It poured just after we got there and everyone got soaked but didn't seem to care. I spent the hour on the computer with the Telstra dongle unloading photos and updating the blog. On the way home we called in to Port MacDonnell and were on our way out to the Cape when we passed a skate park. Next thing, Nick, Anna and the boys were all on skateboards looking like they were about to hurt themselves! We packed up just before another shower and drove around the Cape before heading home - it all looked very wild in the rain. Back home we had the camp to ourselves and so cranked up the generator to use the electric fry pan - it made a terrible din!! Nick made lamb chops and mash and by the time he'd finished 3 minivans full of French backpackers had moved in - very friendly but as noisy as our generator! We spent the evening filling up the water tanks from the bottles on top of the car and watched a movie on the computer before going to sleep. Our neighbours stayed up till the early hours but at least it didn't keep the kids awake. I think it's time to move on!
