Lunch was at La Posta de Mesilla Restaurant, Cantina & Chile Shop excellent. La Posta is located in the Old Butterfield Stage Building, pre-cursor to the pony express. The food was great. The building is an amazing maze of rooms filled with color, parrots (real), fish aquariums, music and shops. Every building has a story and every shop keeper also. As we traveled closer to El Paso we move to the closest point between the US and the Mexican border. The US side is the city of El Paso Texas and on the Mexico side the city of Juarez. We passed a ghost town, Steins, in New Mexico in an area referred to as Doubtful Canyon. The Southern Pacific was crushing gravel for 300 miles of rail bed. The Chinese workers who did the work were not allowed to live in Steins but had to stay out by the quarry itself. There is a cemetery to the south of I10.
