Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
We had a full day walking around Amsterdam (12 miles by the phone app) and I think we are both broken. We wanted to see the Anne Frank House and heard it was best to get to there early. It is fairly close to our hotel - we got there about 8:30 and we were in by 9:15. Good thing we got there early - by the time we got out the line was almost 3 blocks long. It was interesting and sad at the same time. They still do not know who exposed the family to the local gestapo. She died about one month before the end of the war. From there we went to the Tulip Museum. We then went on a search for the Museum of Handbags and Purses - one of Bonnie's favorite items. On the way we passed through the flower market - beautiful. We found the Handbag Museum it and wandered around the gift shop but decided it was not worth the admission. By then we were hungry and found a pub for a burger, fries and a beer. It's been cool and Bonnie needed another layer. We went to the huge flea market where Bonnie found a good deal on a hooded Amsterdam sweatshirt. On the way back to the hotel we walked through one of Amsterdam's largest tourist attractions - the Red Light District. Again interesting and sad at the same time. It was busy with observers (male and female) and a few customers. The "attractions" ranged from fairy good looking to not so much. The more we stay at our hotel, the more we like it. They bend over backwards to help and give info.
