We left the Okiwi campsite around 8am, and enjoyed a lovely coastal drive north with the sun beaming. Heading towards the town of Blenheim, famous for its Marlborough wines. On the way Peter might have been caught speeding... will have to wait and see! In Blenheim town centre we visited the i-site before walking around town, not much going on as it was bank holiday monday. We would of loved to visit some vineyards cellar doors but our budget didn't allow it. So we just went to a chocolate factory instead... Lucy loved the sample of macadamia toffee crunch and lemon truffle. Unfortunately this chocolate factory was a boutique one, with high prices so we didn't purchase anything. Then we drove upto the lovely harbour town of Picton in the Marlborough sounds. Here we drove up the bendy roads of Queen Charlotte Drive, where we stopped at a few lookouts with nice views over the Marlborough Sounds. Just as we were about to set off back to Picton Peter decided he needed a poo.. badly. Like popping out badly. But as a rule in our campervan we are not allowed to poo in the toilet.. just wee. Peter broke all rules and had to go.. stinking our campervan right out. Back in the town of Picton, we grabbed some chips with curry sauce... the curry sauce being cold! We do miss a good traditional english chippy. Peter also grabbed an ice cream... 2 scoops on a cone! More like 5 scoops... The lady must of taken a fancy to him. We then needed to work our unhealthy food off, so we went on a walk to the top of a hill overlooking the harbour town and the sounds. It had amazing views, so we spent a good 15 minutes taking it all in at the top. That night we free camped at Collins Memorial Park 6km outside of town. The morning after we did absolutely nothing... our ferry to the north island wasn't until 2pm. Finally we were able to check-in our vehicle at 12.30, this journey was abit more expensive than we had originally thought... £200 in total due mainly to us having a long vehicle! The ferry was nothing spectacular to be honest, we just watched a couple of movies, played cards and snacked. Due to the miserable weather we couldn't really sit outside and take in what is supposed to be one of the most scenic ferry trips in the world. Lucy took a liking to the cows outside though that were being transported in a lorry, she spent that long looking at them that she came back inside and you could smell cow s*** on her scarf! haha.
